Faculty Profile

Sasan Fathpour, PhD

Sasan Fathpour, PhD, received a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2005. His research interests are silicon photonics, semiconductor optoelectronics and nonlinear integrated optics. Previously, he was a Senior Researcher at Ostendo Technologies Inc., where he demonstrated novel visible light sources for display applications. He received the NSF CAREER award in 2012, and is the co-editor of the book "Silicon Photonics for Telecommunications and Biomedicine" published by CRC Press in 2012.

Patrick LiKamWa, PhD

Patrick LiKamWa, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Optics and Electrical and Computer Engineering at UCF. He received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield in England. Dr. LiKamWa is currently pursuing research on the design, fabrication and testing of novel all-optical switching devices using III-V multi-quantum well semiconductors, and the integration of high-speed optical and optoelectronic devices to form monolithic integrated optical circuits for high data throughput optical networks.

Winston V. Schoenfeld, PhD

Winston V. Schoenfeld, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida. He received his BS and MS degrees in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Florida, followed by his PhD in Materials Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. Schoenfeld currently serves as Chair of the Florida Chapter of the American Vacuum Society, as a Principal Editor of the Journal of Materials Research, and is author/co-author of over 80 journal publications in the areas of self-assembled quantum dots, nitride light emitting diodes, oxide-based wide band gap semiconductors, quantum networks, and solid state nuclear detectors.
