Thomas T.H. Wan, PhD

Thomas T. H. Wan, PhD, is a professor of the Doctoral Program in Public Affairs. He received his MA and PhD in Sociology from the University of Georgia and his MHS from John Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. Dr. Wan’s research interests are centered in managerial epidemiology, health services evaluation, health informatics, and clinical outcome studies. He is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and books on health care and medical systems. Dr. Wan describes the PhD program as one that places a strong emphasis on generating evidence- and performance-based models for the betterment of service organizations and community well-being. “Our graduates are among the best in their fields, and they command executive positions in academia, government, industry, and nonprofit organizations throughout the country,” he shares.

Lawrence L. Martin, PhD

Lawrence L. Martin, PhD, is professor public affairs in the Doctoral Program in Public Affairs.  He received his BS, MSW and PhD degrees from Arizona State University (Tempe) and his MBA in international business from the American Graduate School of International Management (Glendale, AZ).  Prior to his academic career, Dr. Martin worked for 15 years as a state and local government administrator in Arizona.  In addition to the University of Central Florida, he has been on the faculties of Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton, FL) and Columbia University (New York City). His research interests include:  government performance measurement, government services contracting, state and local government and human services administration. Dr. Martin has published 30 books and major monographs and over 100 professional articles and book chapters. He has consulted extensively with governments and nonprofit organizations in the US and other countries.
