Faculty Profile

Yong-ho Sohn, PhD

Yong-ho Sohn, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center (AMPAC). His research interests include multicomponent-multiphase diffusion, thermal barrier coatings, armor and anti-armor materials, and microstructure analysis and modeling. Dr. Sohn is currently working with nine graduate students, all of whom are financially supported as research assistants. He encourages students with a strong foundation in science, mathematics, and engineering to consider pursuing graduate study in materials science and engineering. “The materials science and engineering field is very interdisciplinary in nature,” says Dr. Sohn. “Students can usually follow their own interests based on applications such as energy and environmental technology, biotechnology and life sciences, nanotechnology, transportation and infrastructure, and information and telecommunications technology.”
